How to select hand sewing needles with excellent qualities when you lack necessary equipment and devices for testing them? The following are some easy methods for your reference:

       1.Quality of the needle’s surface: The surface of a good hand sewing needle should be consistently shiny. There should be no spot, color difference, rust stain, scar, or obvious cut or scratch. When selecting needles, observe carefully under the condition of adequate light.

       2.Modeling of a needle’s point: The needle point should be sharp and in the shape of a parabola. There should be no false point, flat point, focused point or bald point. Under the same external force, the needle whose point does not form a hook is an excellent needle. Bring a magnifying glass if you have one, which can help you see the needle’s point clearly.

       3.Modeling of a needle’s eye: The needle’s eye should be upright and smooth. The hole should be in the needle’ center and its interior should be smooth, without burr. The part that connects the needle’s hole and the backward threading slot should be a slight curve.

       When selecting it, put a hand sewing thread through the needle’s eye and tighten it. Then move the thread back and forth for several times. If the hand sewing thread doesn’t become fuzzy or break, the needle is of a good quality.
